Unshaven FUE hair transplant

Unshaven FUE is a hair transplant in which you keep your hair length. Instead of shaving the whole head, only a discreet part of the donor area is trimmed, so the surrounding hair covers it and you can return to work without an obviously shaved look. It suits smaller sessions and is offered to selected patients after assessment.

How unshaven FUE works

The technique follows the same steps as FUE, with one difference: the hair is not shaved short everywhere. In the donor area, a limited zone is trimmed and covered by the longer hair above it. In the recipient area, grafts are placed between your existing hairs, often with a DHI implanter pen.

Who is unshaven FUE for?

• Patients who cannot take long time off or want to keep the procedure private.
• Smaller sessions, such as hairline refinement or filling a thinning area.
• Patients who still have hair in the area to be treated, which helps hide the grafts while they heal.
• Women with thinning, who usually prefer not to shave.

Limits to know about

• Fewer grafts per session. Extracting and placing grafts between long hair takes longer, so large sessions are usually better done with shaving.
• Not suitable for every case. Extensive baldness, the crown, or a donor area that needs wide harvesting often call for a shaved procedure.
• A longer day. The extra precision adds time to the procedure.

Recovery

Recovery follows the same medical timeline as FUE. The difference is visibility: because most of your hair stays long, small scabs and redness are largely hidden. Most patients return to desk work within 3 to 5 days.
